Traditional hexavalent chromium-based chromates, including golden chromate, have raised environmental concerns due to their toxicity. Many industries have transitioned to alternative, more environmentally friendly coatings like trivalent chromium-based chromates to comply with regulations like the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
